Since I’m on spring break and enjoying being home and not in my small apartment the highlight of being home is practicing my banjo on my porch like some kind of high-class hillbilly.
So I was sitting on my back porch perfecting Cripple Creek and then all of a sudden I turn around and my neighbors are at my fence listening and it scared the crap out of me. Then I felt bad I didn’t have that many songs to play since I just started learning not too long ago.
Later my mom mentioned how the neighbors were being nice now.
Banjo breaks all barriers of hate. Everybody loves banjo.
Whenever I tell most people I play banjo their instant reaction is something relating to Deliverance. As if the only banjo song ever written is dueling banjos. And I have to stand there and pretend I don’t want to murder them.

Once a person’s response was “Oh it’s a real easy instrument to play. I mean inbred hillbillies can play it.” Not.even.joking.
